Overview
This 6-day Kenya safari offers a beautifully curated journey through some of the country’s most iconic national parks and landscapes. From the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli to the serene waters of Lake Naivasha, the rhino sanctuary of Lake Nakuru, and the predator-rich savannahs of the Maasai Mara, this circuit is designed for travelers who want to experience Kenya’s diverse wildlife, scenery, and ecosystems in under a week—without sacrificing depth or adventure.
Your journey begins in Amboseli National Park.
one of Kenya’s most photographed parks and a sanctuary for free-ranging elephants. Located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, Amboseli is known for its iconic views of elephant herds walking across dusty plains with the mountain towering in the background. After arriving from Nairobi, you’ll enjoy your first afternoon game drive, with excellent chances of spotting elephants, giraffes, zebras, and a range of antelope species. If the skies are clear, Kilimanjaro provides a breathtaking backdrop, especially in the early morning or late afternoon light.
Day two is dedicated to a full-day exploration of Amboseli.
Begin with an early morning game drive to capture the best light for photography and increase your chances of seeing predators like lions, cheetahs, or perhaps a rare leopard. The park’s permanent swamps and seasonal wetlands support over 400 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. After breakfast back at the lodge or camp, the midday offers time to relax before heading out again in the late afternoon when wildlife activity picks up once more. The wide-open plains and acacia woodlands offer an immersive safari experience.
On day three, you’ll depart Amboseli and make your way to Lake Naivasha.
a freshwater lake nestled in the Great Rift Valley. This peaceful stop offers a different kind of safari experience. In the afternoon, you’ll take a boat ride across the lake, gliding past submerged hippos and watching African fish eagles soar overhead. Keep your camera ready for sights of giraffes, zebras, and waterbuck grazing along the lake’s edges. Optional activities include a walking safari on Crescent Island, where you can walk among wild animals in a predator-free environment. It’s a tranquil and scenic break from the traditional game drive format.
The fourth day takes you to Lake Nakuru National Park.
a compact but incredibly rich wildlife destination. Famous for its seasonal flamingo flocks and thriving black and white rhino populations, the park is a haven for conservation and photography. A game drive here brings you close to rhinos, lions, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffalo, and an array of bird species. Its acacia forests, dramatic escarpments, and lake views provide a picturesque setting. You’ll overnight at a lodge either inside the park or overlooking the lake.
On day five, the safari moves on to its grand finale:
the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve. As you travel deeper into the savannah, you’ll arrive in time for lunch at your camp or lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive. The Mara is famed for its vast open plains and exceptional concentrations of wildlife, especially the Big Five—elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos. It’s also home to the Great Migration during seasonal months, but even outside that period, the density of wildlife is unmatched.
Your final morning is spent exploring more of the Maasai Mara
with a sunrise game drive offering a last chance to encounter predators on the hunt or witness elephants and giraffes moving gracefully across the plains. After a late breakfast or brunch, you’ll begin the return journey to Nairobi, arriving in the evening. Whether you’re flying out the same night or extending your stay in Kenya, this 6-day safari delivers a rich and varied experience of Kenya’s most treasured natural wonders.
