10-Day Uganda Safari Adventure: Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife

After breakfast, drive north through Uganda’s beautiful countryside toward Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area. The journey includes a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to Uganda’s only wild rhinos.Over two days, you’ll enjoy game drives across the savannah, spotting lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and antelope. A highlight is the boat cruise along the Nile River to the base of the thundering Murchison Falls, where hippos and crocodiles thrive. You can also hike to the top of the falls for breathtaking views of the Nile squeezing through a narrow gorge before plunging into the pool below.

Leaving Murchison Falls, you’ll head southwest to Kibale Forest, home to the highest concentration of primates in Africa. The lush rainforest is famous for chimpanzee trekking, offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance to walk alongside these playful primates. Experienced rangers guide you through the forest, pointing out other primates such as red colobus monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys.You’ll also enjoy a nature walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run project known for its incredible birdlife, butterflies, and swamp-dwelling mammals. Overnight in a lodge near the forest.

The journey continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited safari destination. Over the next two days, you’ll experience morning and evening game drives on the Kasenyi Plains, searching for elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, and antelopes.One of the highlights is a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward. This waterway is teeming with hippos, crocodiles, and a dazzling array of birds. If lucky, you might also spot the famous tree-climbing lions of the Ishasha sector in the southern part of the park.

Your safari now heads into the misty mountains of southwestern Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.Over two days, you’ll trek through the dense rainforest in search of a gorilla family. Once found, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat, watching as they feed, groom, and play. In the evening, you may visit a Batwa community to learn about the culture of Uganda’s indigenous forest people. Overnight in a lodge overlooking the forested hills.

On your final day, you’ll relax at the tranquil Lake Bunyonyi, known as the “Switzerland of Africa” for its rolling green hills and dotted islands. You can enjoy a canoe ride, swim in the bilharzia-free waters, or simply soak in the serene views before beginning your transfer back to Entebbe for your flight home.This marks the end of your 10-day Uganda safari, a journey filled with gorillas, chimps, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
